For Academic Year:
2024 - 2025
General information and continuing eligibility requirements for new first-year recipients.
1 | The President's Scholarship covers the full cost of attendance at the University of Nebraska for up to four years (eight semesters; or completion of a bachelor’s degree), with three inclusive summers, plus an annual $5,000. Cost of attendance includes full tuition and required fees plus the standard budgeted amount for housing and meals, books and supplies, and personal expenses. |
2 | Renewal of this commitment for each subsequent year is dependent upon the recipient maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.500. The University computes grade point averages to three decimal places and does not round. Renewal determinations are made at the end of each spring semester. |
3 | In order to complete the requirements for a degree in eight semesters, a student must earn an average of 15 credit hours each semester. Scholarship recipients must maintain continuous enrollment each consecutive fall/spring semester (summer is optional) and enroll full-time (at least 12 UNL credit hours) during each semester of the academic year (fall and spring semesters) in order to receive and maintain the benefit. These hours must be officially registered by the sixth day of classes (or census date) each semester. |
4 | Recipients must complete at least 24 credits each academic year (fall/spring). Repeated courses will only count once. |
5 | When meeting renewal criteria, scholarship funds may be used to pay tuition and fees for summer enrollment at UNL after the completion of the first academic year if the student completes the Summer Aid Application in MyRed. The scholarship will also cover the standard summer budgeted amounts for housing and food, books and supplies, and personal expenses for the period of enrollment. There is no additional stipend during the summer. For more information on summer: https://financialaid.unl.edu/summer-financial-aid. |
6 | A President's Scholarship may transfer to another campus of the University of Nebraska system. |
7 | The scholarship cannot be used for non-credit courses or non-term specific correspondence courses. Recipients cannot combine this award with any other tuition waiver from federal, state, or University sources (e.g., Employee Dependent Waiver). |
8 | The scholarship commitment will be discontinued if the recipient withdraws from school or fails to register for consecutive semesters, unless an exception for a scholarship leave of absence is granted because of extenuating circumstances. |
9 | The scholarship covers the mandatory student service fees, laboratory fees related to particular courses, and other miscellaneous fees, such as online course fees, registration fees, and technology fees. Penalty fees are not covered by this scholarship, such as late fees, damage fees, and parking citations. |
10 | An amount of money equal to the semester tuition and fee charges will be credited to the recipient's student account and will appear on his or her billing statement. Any student whose total scholarship and/or financial aid awards exceed his or her total institutional charges for a given semester will receive a refund for the difference from the Office of Student Accounts. Students are encouraged to set up a direct deposit account to receive your refund (studentaccounts.unl.edu/payment-credits-refunds#direct-deposit). |
11 | For global experience programs, this commitment may be applied toward UNL course credit (where university tuition is charged). This commitment cannot be applied toward course credit that will be transferred from another institution. Students may apply for a variety of scholarships specific to global experience programs: Learn More |
12 | This scholarship program is supported through the generosity of donors. You may asked to consent to participate in university events and promotions as a condition of accepting this scholarship. |
