If you are offered a campus-wide scholarship upon admission, you will receive an official scholarship offer notification from the Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid notifying you of your scholarship award. Your scholarship offer will also appear in MyRED under the financial aid tab, which is also where you accept your scholarship offer. If your scholarship is renewable, the notification will include a webpage listing the full eligibility and renewal policies and expectations of the scholarship.

To renew any renewable scholarships at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, you typically must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA and complete at least 24 credit hours during the academic year (fall/spring). Renewal criteria can vary by scholarship, so be sure to review your specific award details in MyRED or visit the Scholarship Guidelines page. Some scholarships are not renewable but you can be considered for each year by completing the annual Scholarship Application for undergraduate students that open October 1 each year and is due by February 1.

You must reapply for financial aid each year by submitting the FAFSA Form. Need-based aid does not automatically renew. Eligibility is reassessed annually based on the income information reported on your FAFSA and continued compliance with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards.

It is your responsibility  to review, understand, and comply with the standards of scholarship renewal. If you are unable to find the original scholarship offer or renewal information, you can visit the Scholarship Guidelines page that lists the renewal criteria for each scholarship based on the semester in which you entered UNL. Each scholarship program may have different requirements and some requirements may differ depending on which semester you first enrolled.

If there are extenuating circumstances that impact your ability to fulfill the renewal criteria, you may appeal your scholarship non-renewal. To learn more about scholarship non-renewal appeals, visit the scholarship appeals page. If you are academically dismissed, contact your academic advisor for information regarding readmission prior to appealing your scholarship.

If you have studied abroad or are working through the credit validation process, you do not need to complete the standard scholarship appeal process. Once your study abroad hours have been included as a part of your UNL transcript, you can complete the Scholarship Reinstatement Form. We will review your records to determine if your scholarship for the upcoming academic year can be released to your student account.
