Nebraska Achievement Tuition Scholarship Guidelines for 2024-2025

For Academic Year:
2024 - 2025

These terms and requirements are effective for Nebraska Achievement Tuition Scholarships awarded to new freshmen for the 2024-2025 academic year and subsequent years.

1The Nebraska Achievement Scholarship covers the cost of UNL undergraduate tuition for up to four academic years, with three inclusive summers, or the completion of a bachelors degree, whichever comes first.
2Renewal of this scholarship for each subsequent year is dependent upon the recipient maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.500.  Renewal determinations are made at the end of each spring semester.  The University computes grade point averages to three decimal places and does not round.
3The recipient must enroll full-time (at least 12 UNL credit hours) during each semester of the academic year (fall and spring semesters).  These hours must be officially registered by the sixth day of classes each semester.
4The recipient must successfully complete 24 UNL credit hours each academic year (fall and spring semesters). Successful completion is defined as the sum of all UNL credit hours completed with a grade of A through D- or Pass (P).  Grades of I, N, W, F, and NR are not considered successfully completed.  Repeated courses will only count once and must be registered for consecutive semesters (i.e., full-time by sixth day of classes each semester).
5When meeting renewal criteria, scholarship funds may be used to pay tuition for summer enrollment at UNL after the completion of the first academic year if the student completes the Summer Aid Application in MyRed. Information on summer financial aid.
6The scholarship cannot be used for non-credit courses or non-term specific correspondence courses.  Recipients cannot combine this award with the benefit of any other tuition benefit or waiver from federal, state, or University sources (e.g., Employee Dependent Waiver).  The scholarship cannot be used for courses taken at UNO, UNK or UNMC.
7As a recipient, you must participate in a POWER program, which includes enrollment and participation in a weekly zero-credit course, academic success coaching, and events designed to support your success.  The course covers topics on finding your purpose, supporting your well-being, getting connected to organizations and peers on campus, and more. Sections are offered on various days and times to fit the rest of your course schedule. Recipients will receive more information at a later time regarding POWER requirements.
8The scholarship will be discontinued if the recipient withdraws from school or fails to register for consecutive semesters, unless an exception is granted because of extenuating circumstances.
9The recipient must pay for the mandatory student service fees, laboratory fees related to particular courses, and other miscellaneous fees (i.e., drop/add charges, registration fees and credit-by-examination fees).
10An amount of money equal to the semester tuition charges will be credited to the recipient's student account and will appear on his or her billing statement.  Any student whose total scholarship and/or financial aid awards exceed his or her total institutional charges for a given semester will receive a refund for the difference from the Office of Student Accounts.
11For global experience programs, this scholarship may be applied toward UNL course credit (where tuition is charged). This scholarship cannot be applied toward course credit that will be transferred from another institution. Students may apply for a variety of scholarships specific to global experience programs: https://educationabroad.unl.edu/scholarships.
12This scholarship may be supported through the generosity of donors. If such is the case, you may be required to complete a thank you note.
