Husker Traditions Scholarship Guidelines for 2020-2021

Husker Traditions Scholarship badge
These terms and requirements are effective for Husker Traditions Scholarships awarded to new freshmen for the 2020-2021 academic year and subsequent years.  This award provides $2,000 per year toward the cost of UNL undergraduate tuition for up to four consecutive years.
1 Renewal of this scholarship for each subsequent year is dependent upon the recipient maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.250.  Renewal determinations are made at the end of each spring semester.  The University computes grade point averages to three decimal places and does not round.
2

In order to complete the requirements for a degree in eight semesters, a student must earn an average of 15 credit hours each semester. Scholarship recipients must enroll full-time (at least 12 UNL credit hours) during each semester of the academic year (fall and spring semesters) in order to receive the benefit. These hours must be officially registered by the sixth day of classes each semester.

3 The recipient must successfully complete 24 UNL credit hours each academic year (fall and spring semesters). Successful completion is defined as the sum of all NEBRASKA credit hours completed with a grade of A through D- or Pass (P). Grades of I, N, W, F, and NR are not considered successfully completed. Repeated courses will only count once and must be registered for consecutive semesters (i.e., full-time by sixth day of classes each semester).
4 The scholarship will be discontinued if the recipient withdraws from school or fails to register for consecutive semesters, unless an exception is granted because of extenuating circumstances.
5 The sum of $1,000 per semester will be credited to the recipient's student account and will appear on his or her billing statement.  Any student whose total scholarship and/or financial aid awards exceed his or her total institutional charges for a given semester will receive a refund for the difference from the Office of Student Accounts.
6 The scholarship cannot be used for non-credit courses or non-term specific correspondence courses.  Recipients cannot combine this award with the Health Sciences Scholarship.
7 The recipient will be encouraged to participate in activities offered by the Student Success Program from the Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services (OASIS).
8 The Husker Traditions Scholarship may be applied toward University of Nebraska-Lincoln approved education abroad programs and other inter-institutional cooperative programs, provided the student receives prior approval from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
9 Students who will participate as a member of any University of Nebraska-Lincoln varsity NCAA team are not eligible to receive this award.
