Chancellor's Scholarship Guidelines 2020-2021

The Chancellor's Scholarship covers the cost of undergraduate tuition for up to four academic years, with three inclusive summers, or the completion of a bachelors degree, whichever comes first.
1 Renewal of this scholarship for each subsequent year is dependent upon the recipient maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.500 or ranking in the upper 25% of the relevant class in a degree-granting undergraduate college.  The University computes grade point averages to three decimal places and does not round.  For students enrolled in the Exploratory, PreProfessional Advising Center, and the UNO College of Public Affairs and Community Service, the norms for the College of Arts & Sciences will be used in determining the upper 25% of the relevant class.  Renewal determinations are made at the end of each spring semester.
2

In order to complete the requirements for a degree in eight semesters, a student must earn an average of 15 credit hours each semester. Scholarship recipients must enroll full-time (at least 12 credit hours) during each semester of the academic year (fall and spring semesters) in order to receive the benefit. These hours must be officially registered by the sixth day of classes each semester.

3 The recipient must successfully complete 24 credit hours each academic year (fall and spring semesters), including the successful completion of at least 9 graded hours each semester.  Successful completion is defined as the sum of all UNL credit hours completed with a grade of A through D- or Pass (P).  Grades of I, N, W, F, and NR are not considered successfully completed.  Repeated courses will only count once and must be registered for consecutive semesters (i.e., full time by sixth day of classes each semester).
4

When meeting renewal criteria, scholarship funds may be used to pay tuition for summer enrollment at UNL after the completion of the first academic year if the student completes the Summer Aid Application in MyRed prior to enrollment.

5 The scholarship cannot be used for non-credit courses or non-term specific correspondence courses. Recipients cannot combine this award with the benefit of any other tuition benefit or waiver from federal, state or University sources.
6 This scholarship will be discontinued if the recipient withdraws from school or fails to register for consecutive semesters, unless an exception is granted because of extenuating circumstances.
7 Recipients must pay for the mandatory student service fees, laboratory fees related to particular courses, and other miscellaneous fees (for example drop/add charges, registration fees, and credit-by-examination fees).
8 National Merit Scholars may receive an additional $500.00 from the National Merit Corporation funded in part by the Cooper Foundation (via the University of Nebraska Foundation) to honor former trustees and to encourage exceptional students to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The amount received on behalf of the student will be disbursed equally between fall and spring semesters.
9 The Chancellor's Scholarship may be applied toward University of Nebraska-Lincoln approved education abroad programs. The study abroad program must be through a UNL faculty-led program where UNL tuition is charged to receive the benefits, provided that the student receives prior approval from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
