Priority Date: May 1
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Form is completed each academic year. Financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. File the FAFSA Form by the May 1 priority date to apply for grants, work-study and loans.

The Nebraska Promise program covers in-state undergraduate tuition at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for up to 30 credits per year. With the Nebraska Promise, in-state students who meet academic qualifications and have a family income of $65,000 or less (Adjusted Gross Income/AGI) or are Pell Grant-eligible can attend tuition-free.

Due to the FAFSA Simplification Act and other laws enacted by Congress, the 2024-25 FAFSA Form is streamlined to provide an enhanced user experience and expand financial aid eligibility. The FAFSA Form is also introducing the term contributor, which refers to anyone who is required to provide information on a student’s FAFSA form, including the student, the student’s spouse, a biological or adopted parent, or the parent’s spouse.
