Message from the Director

Welcome to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln!

Portrait of Justin Chase Brown

The cost of education is a considerable investment and we strive to support enrollment for students through financial resources and service to students, faculty, and staff on campus. Our staff are committed to accomplishing this mission through excellent service, stewardship, and advocacy. We are committed to diversity and inclusion and provide information on this website to assist parents and families, students, faculty, and staff with financial aid knowledge and available opportunities as well as the transparency of the scholarship and financial aid process.

The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid processes nearly 40,000 financial aid awards to UNL students for over $330 million. Financial aid can come from federal, state, campus, and private sources, each with their own rules and regulations, which can be overwhelming. We navigate those rules for students, communicate with students about their options, and strive for timely, efficient, and effective scholarship and financial aid processing.

In our office, we support students so they can focus on building the foundations of hard work and collaboration. We aspire to ease their access and affordability so they can make a real difference in the world and experience the amazing opportunities that Nebraska has to offer, such as:

  • working hard to accomplish goals and growing both intellectually and socially;
  • accessing an excellent education and career preparation at an exceptional value;
  • meeting and engaging with students from all over Nebraska, all 50 states, and over 130 countries; and
  • learning with new classmates and world-class faculty who will challenge and push students to accomplish more than they ever thought possible!

Our students are hard workers and Nebraska is where Our Grit becomes Our Glory. Making a world-class education attainable is one of my personal driving principles and I recognize that Nebraska is one of the best places where this can be accomplished. I see scholarships and financial aid as an investment in the future - both for our students and for the the communities they will serve after they graduate. My mission is to help students achieve their dreams through college access and affordability and as a first-generation college student, I have my financial aid advisor to thank for making my college dreams a reality.
