You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to be eligible. You must be registered at least half-time at the University of Nebraska, certified as half-time by the Graduate College, or registered at least half-time as an intercampus student with at least one credit hour of enrollment at the University of Nebraska and Lincoln is your degree granting campus. You must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 1.5 and be enrolled at least half-time when you receive a Short-Term Loan. Full-time University employees are ineligible.

The maximum amount that can be borrowed is $1,000; loans of $501 to $1000 require a co-signer. (The co-signer must be a parent, legal guardian, grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, or child of majority age who has an adequate income or is willing to submit evidence of ability to repay the loan. The co-signer cannot be a student or spouse.) Loans of a maximum of $500 are signature loans and do not require a cosigner, unless the borrower is under 19 years of age or has a cumulative GPA of at least 1.5 but less than 2.0. Loans have a repayment period of up to 90 days at nine percent APR. All Short-Term Loans are due before graduation. Short-Term Loans can be prepaid without penalty. If a loan is not paid in full by the maturity date, a late fee of $25 will be assessed and interest increased to twelve percent annually.
