Short-Term Loans

This program is intended for students who need funds to meet emergency educational expenses. A student's need to borrow up to $1000 is considered appropriate for this loan program. You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to be eligible. You must be registered at least half-time at the University of Nebraska, certified as half-time by the Graduate College, or registered at least half-time as an intercampus student with at least one credit hour of enrollment at the University of Nebraska and Lincoln is your degree granting campus. You must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 1.5 and be enrolled at least half-time when you receive a Short-Term Loan. Full-time University employees are ineligible.

Student who are at least 19 years of age with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher may borrow up to $1000. Students with a cumulative GPA between 1.5 and 2.0 are limited to borrowing a maximum of $500. Loans have a repayment period of up to 90 days at 9% APR. All Short-Term Loans are due before graduation. Short-Term Loans can be prepaid without penalty. If a loan is not paid in full by the maturity date, a late fee of $25 will be assessed and interest increased to 12% annually.
